Interval is an exhibition by artists group “Markmakers”. Halton’s contemporary arts collective. Members of the group have exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally with artists involved in national touring exhibitions and international residencies. Collectively the group have built a name for interesting and thoughtful exhibitions and are supported by curators from across the country. Now the group has returned to home turf to present their work to local visitors and guests from beyond Halton in their new exhibition titled “Interval”.
The theme took the artists on a journey through questions like; What is an interval and does anything of interest happen there? What are the intervals in my life and what happens in wider world when an interval occurs? The answers to these questions and more can be seen within the work which is being exhibited at The Brindley Art Gallery during Autumn 2017.
“Taking a word as a brief was a challenge at first.” says Markmakers artist Jane Chapman, “but as we started to do our own research, hear others thoughts and see others work evolving the idea of an interval became more and more inspiring and intriguing.”
Curator and Curious Minds Manager Louise Hesketh said; “I’ve followed the group for several years. These exhibitions always reflect the great wealth of talent within the Markmakers collective. Artists from the group have become internationally recognised but still provide inspiration for their local Halton community. When they turn up on your doorstep they are well worth a visit.”
The group hope that the exhibition will present an opportunity for visitors to experience their own interval, a chance to step to the side of busy every day life and spend some quiet moments with thoughtful art.
The exhibition begins on Monday 2nd October and runs until 25th November. The Brindley Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 10.00am until 5.00 pm andSaturday 10.00am until 2.00pm, it is closed Sundays and bank holidays. After this exhibition this work and new pieces will tour to Ordsall Hall in Salford. For more info on this exhibition please visit www.salfordcommunityleisure.
