Workshop: Make a copper & leather cuff with Kate Moult
Sunday 10 April 2016, 11.15 – 16.15
Tickets: £45 each (£39 Members & concs), includes materials and light refreshments.
This workshop will be given by our in-house jeweller Kate Moult, who designs and manufactures contemporary handmade jewellery, often incorporating leather and silver into much of her own work.
The workshop links in with our March 2016 jewellery exhibition, ‘Manifest‘, and our forthcoming exhibition L for Leather in June, showcasing leather work by a variety of artists curated by Kate.
During the workshop, you will be able to make your own copper and leather cuff/bracelet and create surface textures on copper plate. You can bring along your own textures to experiment with (e.g. textured fabrics, paper or lace), and will mount your design onto a leather cuff. Techniques you will learn will include the use of a rolling mill, riveting, and forming leather and metal.
