Braiding a light flex with Charlotte Nash
    Sunday 28th February 2016
    Time: 11.15 – 16.15

Tickets: £45 each (£39 Members & cons), includes light refreshments. Also includes materials, flex, light fitting & plug (*lightbulb sold separately).

This workshop will be given by lighting designer, Charlotte Nash, to link in with our current lighting design exhibition ‘Brilliance’.

Participants will sample, experiment with and select colourful materials from a range (including braiding yarn) provided by Charlotte. You will braid 1 metre of flex which will include a light fitting and plug to take away after the workshop to display in your home, allowing you to ‘plug and play’.*Charlotte will also bring along ‘Plumen’ lightbulbs which can be purchased on the day to take home to use with the flex for £20 each. (Alternatively these can be purchased online.)

You will learn how to braid the flex using different techniques including ‘Macrame’. Macrame uses knotting (rather than weaving or knitting), to create a beautiful, decorative braiding effect.

Booking: Please call Bluecoat Display Centre on 0151 709 4014 or email crafts@bluecoatdisplaycentre.com.

Charlotte’s lighting designs take inspiration from geometric shapes, grids, repetition, stripes and Aztec themes. Crafts of braiding and the inclusion of different materials further enhance her aesthetics. Working alongside matte and lustrous yarns give a new and fresh feel to final pieces. Her work is designed to be bright, bold and chaotic in appearance. Upon closer inspection, each loop and knot is meticulously placed, measured and considered. Charlotte’s lighting lit up our ‘In The Window‘ space in December 2015.
