Presented by: What We Talk About When We Talk About Work

What We Talk About When We Talk About Work is a programme of public discussions devised by Laura Mansfield which bring together curators and artists working across the north of the UK with creative practitioners from different European cities. The discussions are focused upon exploring ways of working outside, across between and within existing institutional structures.

Bluecoat is delighted to host the second discussion in this series entitled: Conversation and Exchange: Talking with Children. The discussion takes as its starting point Bluecoat’s recent programme of exhibitions which has looked at alternative approaches to education, the history of the gallery building as a school as well as working with artists who develop projects with children as their intended audience.

Speakers for this event are: Marie-Anne McQuay, Bluecoat Head of Programme;Heather Jones, Exhibition Manager of Kunsthall Stavanger Norway; Polly Brannan, artist and education curator at Liverpool Biennial; Mick Marston, illustrator and Julian Woods, educator, will each present their recent projects and discuss the benefits of creating works with, for and in response to, children.
