Another participatory art event. This is great fun and some really good drawings being produced too. Only sorry we haven’t visited a Draw the Line session earlier. We called into Django’s Riff this evening on our way back from Gostins, it was still quite early but already quite a lot going on and a nice social, drawing, talking, drinking event. Looking forward to the next one at Mello Mello on afternoon of Saturday 20 June 2009.
From the website www.drawtheonline.com…
The doodles began back in 2007 when Robin Peters and Michael Snowdon combined their brain power to create an artistic socializing event for those with a love of art and scrawling on tables.
Uniting under the flag of Django’s Riff the idea has extended off the page to other venues such as Mello Mello, The Bluecoat and FACT. This is an open event and materials are provided for you, but you can always bring your own favorite chunky marker or brush… all you have to do is turn up and who in their right mind could turn down free pens!?
If you like the sound of that then feel free to pop in and leave your mark:
Django’s Riff / Wood st – 1st Thursday of each month (8pm-2am)
Situated below the Open Eye Gallery providing affordable drinks and cocktails to aid your inspiration and social lubrication. Open mic hip-hop from the Watchu Say’n? crew.
Mello Mello / Slater St – 3rd Saturday of each month (12pm-6pm)
This bohemian cafe retreat is just down Slater st offering a world wide selection of palpitation inducing coffees, perfect for brewing up a drawing storm. Feel free to bring your own alcohol (and pay a small corking fee) and you’re own instruments for more open mic entertainment.
