Dot Art – ‘Reflections’ – Paintings by Ewa Konior

22 August – 30 September 2011 at Dot Art. ‘Reflections’ – Paintings by Ewa Konior

Polish born Ewa Konior, who works from a studio in Cheshire, will be showing new work from her “Reflections” series at dot-art this Summer. These large scale paintings combine figurative and abstract elements with a strong use of colour, in an attempt to depict the inner world of her subjects.

Ewa was born in Poland and graduated from the Silesian University in Katowice with a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts. She worked for several years as a cartoon animator and graphic designer before moving to England in 2003. At present she lives in Stockport, Cheshire, where she runs her own art studio at Vernon Mill. She belongs to Vernon Mill Artists’ group and she is a member of Contemporary Art Society.

Ewa’s paintings combine reality and the abstract, utilising strong yet sophisticated colour. She concentrates on depicting human existence, especially the interior world of a person, striving to bring out the uniqueness and truth of an individual. Her artworks can be seen as inner portraits symbolising states of mind, full of unlimited fantasy and youthful innocence and demonstrating the sensitive and fragile nature of human being.

The artist says of these works:
“The series is based on the idea of a quick slide-show. It is built of pictures that represent accidental photos taken in the streets, most often on shop windows. It occurs that, surprisingly, they can tell us a lot about the human existence. Various emotions- being lost, euphoria, hurry, or lost identity in the crowds – all may be captured in the glass reflection, like in the mirror.”

The exhibition is open to the public from 12-6pm Monday to Friday and by appointment, at dot-art, 16 Queen Avenue, Castle Street, Liverpool, L2 4TX. Please call 0845 017 6660 or see for more information or to make an appointment.

All work is for sale and admission is free.
