Cheshire East Council is seeking a Digital Artist experienced in developing Minecraft projects with Young People.
The project will be led by Cheshire East Council’s Cultural Economy Team and the digital artist will be required to work closely with partners in Cheshire East Libraries and Cheshire Archives Service to deliver a project funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Young Roots scheme.
The project will focus on engaging young people with the heritage of Crewe working closely with the Cheshire Archives team. Crewe is predominantly known for its Railway heritage and industry with Bentley’s a core business within the town. The heritage of the town is important and relevant now to the community and young people with the HS2 high speed rail network development on the horizon Crewe will potentially be unrecognisable to its current and past state. Using archives to stimulate creativity with an audience which doesn’t generally engage with archives, Crewe buildings from the late 19th century-1970s will be used as inspiration for the project.
The digital artist must have previous experience of developing Minecraft worlds through workshop facilitation, managing public servers and developing legacy resources. The artist must have interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and lead young people in creating the project, which will remain as a resource for future years.
This project has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to devise this exciting digital heritage project.
We are also seeking a Project Co-ordinator and Evaluator for the project in addition to this Digital Artist contract, which may be applied for independently or, should the artist have the relevant skills, collectively. Please identify in your cover letter which roles you wish to be considered for.
The role is offered on a freelance basis. To apply send a CV and cover letter outlining your relevant skills and experience to firstname.lastname@example.org
