independents - 'Field' Nov 1 to Nov 25 2006
Viewing Oct 31st 16-18.00
Artwork by young people from De La Salle High School in St Helens .
Pupils worked with artists Tony Knox and Lisa Barry during a 16-day residency throughout the Liverpool Biennial, to make artwork using their own identities as a starting point. Young people and teachers visited the Liverpool Biennial in September engaging with artworks in the International and Independents programmes. Lead artist, Tony Knox, met with artists from the Biennial International programme to feed new ideas and approaches into the residency and to share professional practice.
This project was funded by the Field Fund, a Trust Fund set up by St Helens Council with funding, donated by Antony Gormley, following the creation of the internationally acclaimed artwork, Field for the British Isles, which was created in St Helens in 1993.
Video artwork made by the young people can also be seen as part of the Liverpool Biennial International + programme on the Big Screen, Clayton Square, Liverpool City Centre: Friday 10 Nov – Thursday 23 Nov, shown as part of a block of work that begins at approximately 9am, 11am, 1.30pm, 5pm and 8pm.
