Cape Farewell at 68 Hope Street – Ends Friday

Time goes by so quickly. We are approaching the end of the 3rd week of the Biennial and already several exhibitions have been and gone.
Cape Farewell – Art and Climate Change is running throughout the Biennial at the Walker and the Conservation Centre but the JMU Art College bit finishes tomorrow Friday October 6th. I only just got round to seeing it today.
If you have time here you can watch David Buckland’s 28 minute video ‘The End of Ice’ which depicts the last piece of an iceberg finally melting away. Also his text messages projected onto the ice are interesting.

There are also pictures of some large ice structures built by Antony Gormley and Peter Clegg and every few seconds there are loud chiming noises caused by something hitting these pieces of glass that are made to look like icicles.

Some beautiful artwork about a serious subject, that is not an easy thing to achieve.
