Call for pavement artists – Chalk It Up!

Call for pavement artists
Chalk It Up!

Town Square, Crewe, Cheshire
26th -27th August 2017

The Coloured Earth Festival of Pavement Art will take place in the historic railway town of Crewe this summer. It is free to take part and open to artists locally and from around the world. The event is organised by UrbanCanvas in partnership with Chester East Council.

The worldwide movement known as “street-painting” originated in Britain and has an unbroken history traceable as far back as Elizabethan England. At its height in Victorian England, over 1000 people were making a living from pavement art in London!! Pavement artists across Britain took pride in their work, offering it freely in return for voluntary contributions.

If you are local to Crewe, we would love you to take part, especially if you are new to pavement art. It’s a great opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s top street painters and have your work seen by thousands of people.

To apply to take part, download the details from: http://www.urbancanvas.org.uk/coloured-earth/

DEADLINE: 28 July 2017
