Blue Moon Publishing are Proud to Announce the Release of “An Alternative Guide to Liverpool” by Bel Shaw

The book is a 64 page book containing over 100 Beautiful photographs that highlight the alternative beauty, character and heritage of Liverpool, it’s buildings, statues and people.

The book puts the flesh back on the bones of those once illustrious figures of the city to present them in a more human light, recognise their achievements and their contribution to the growth and pride in the city that all Liverpudlians feel today, warts and all!

As a child growing up in Garston, Bel’s love of the city was passed on to her by her father, whose stories about the Liverpool and characters that he knew through his life would captivate her. Many visits with him to Liverpool Museum and Walker Art Gallery, ferry rides across to Birkenhead and back, passing on his knowledge and pride in the city has spurred Bel on to write this book.

The author is Liverpool born and brought up in Garston, Bel attended Liverpool College of Art where she gained a degree in Fashion and Textiles. She made a successful career as a fashion designer in London and currently commutes between Liverpool and London.

It has always been her ambition to write a book about Liverpool, its buildings and the lives of the people behind those buildings and statues before their meaning and relevance is lost forever.
