Dance Festival Co-ordinator (Liverpool)

Merseyside Dance Initiative are looking for a Freelance Festival Co-ordinator from Nov 06 - March 07, to coordinate their annual Leap dance festival.

Job Title: Festival Co-Ordinator
Responsible to: Project Development Manager & Artistic Director
Main purpose of job: To work alongside the MDI team acting as the main contact between MDI and the venues / artists involved in the festival.
To Co-ordinate the administration of the event.
Dates: November 06 - End March 07.

Duties include:
<-- Liase with companies re technical, travel and accommodation needs
<-- Liase with venue technicians
<-- Book workshops into schools
<-- Be available to attend schools workshops with companies
<-- Attend all events
<-- Organise launch event and closing event
<-- Act as a point of contact for festival as a whole
<-- Work alongside venues & Marketing Co-ordinator to develop box office sales
<-- Liase with all appropriate staff at MDI
<-- Produce the evaluation report
<-- To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required by
the Artistic Director and represent MDI as and when appropriate

Role:
As Festival Co-ordinator you will be expected to work as part of the regular MDI team and work from the MDI office on Hope Street. Your role will be to act as a focal point for the festival, gathering and organising all the information from artists, venues etc and keeping the team informed where relevant. The organisation=B9s computer systems will become more integrated over the next year and you may have to undertake the necessary computer training. You will also be expected to take the lead in organising the Community Event by being the main contact between
all groups taking part, the venue and any additional artists contracted to work on the event and also organising and running any group rehearsals including Tec and dress before the event. All this would be undertaken in conjunction with the Project Development Manager. Other roles will include: Organising Artist talks / lectures connected to the performance & workshop programme; Assisting with fundraising and sponsorship; partnership development and venue development (i.e. identifying suitable new venues)

Salaries and Benefits:
The post holder will be paid a fixed fee of £6,000 on a freelance basis
