The Gallery at The Peoples Centre

There is a new gallery in The Peoples Centre at 50-54 Mount Pleasant. I'm not sure what the peoples centre is exactly, it seems to be various groups that have moved from the Trade Union Resource centre that was at 24 Hardman Street.
'The Gallery' is run by 'The Capitalists of Culture' (a very silly name) and is the walls around the reception area. This area gets a lot of people traffic so at least the art will be seen by a lot of people.

Here's some blurb from John Fillis of The Capitalists of Culture (still a very silly name)...

The Capitalists of Culture Ltd, is a not for profit organisation limited by guarantee. It was formed last year to support local artists in and around Liverpool.

“The Gallery” is a pilot scheme, that will roll out to other buildings in Liverpool and across Merseyside. The aim is to establish an Art Gallery within the reception area of a very busy, city centre, office block, ensuring that the gallery does not interfere with the day to day running of the businesses that occupy the building. The gallery will be free of charge to local artists (based around Merseyside).

We would give preference to artists in keeping with our inclusive policy by promoting work from the elderly, disabled, and ethnic minority groups and people who are socially disadvantaged.

More details at www.capitalistsofculture.com.

The gallery is open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 16.30

The current show will run from the 2nd June to 30th June 2006 and includes work from:

Julie Anderson – Aimee Parker – Jean Cox
Lorraine Owens – Alice Roberts
