Live Magazine held a party at Newz bar last to celebrate not only Christmas but the publication of their 50th issue. Congratulations guys.
I admit I had my doubts when it was re-launched as a weekly what's on guide. A lot of less ambitious free magazines have come and gone but this small team somehow produce, print & distribute a quality mag every week. Of course, I help by providing the art listings.
Anyway, I got to the party early and was delighted to see the Batala Liverpool Samba Band outside, they later performed inside too which was a welcome break from the dj's uninspiring selection of sounds. Apparently Batala want to expand from 20 to 50 members so if you are interested in joining contact Ritchie Tunstall congaking@msn.com. You need to be pretty fit though so that rules me out. See the article in this weeks Live. I won't mention Live's website as its so embarrassingly out of date!
