Drive Safely

road peace memorial by Tom MurphyThere is a new sculpture in St Johns Gardens at the back of St Georges Hall. Its by Merseyside sculptor Tom Murphy and is a memorial to people killed or injured on Liverpool's roads. It is in the shape of a traffic bollard, surrounded by items found at crash scenes such as a teddy bear, a shoe, glasses, mobile phone, walking stick.
The decision to have a memorial in St John's Gardens was taken after a long consultation period involving RoadPeace the organisation which supports bereaved and injured victims of road crashes.

In the last 10 years 265 people have died in incidents on Liverpool roads alone.

The inscription says "Injured or Killed, Lives Unfulfilled. The Reality of Road Deaths"
