Call for Christmas designs for 08 Place

From Sarah Jane Dooley, Visual Arts Co-ordinator Liverpool Culture Company

Call for Christmas designs for Liverpool Culture Company's 08 Place

The 08 place is Liverpool Culture Company's brand new state of the art customer experience centre. Located at 36-38 Whitechapel, the 08 place was opened on 20th August and features a significant presence for AV delivery of information and experience.

We are seeking to commission a local artist or designer to decorative the 08 place for Christmas. Rather than purchase off the shelf standard decorations, we are seeking proposals that will create an atmosphere in the 08 place that is not only festive but creative, magical and innovative - a showcase for high standard design / creativity.

There will be an AV content on a large external screen at the front of 08 place which will be themed around the 12 days of Christmas and ideas may be generated from, or relate to, this concept. The podium will feature traditional Christmas entertainment during December such as school choirs and multi faith celebrations. As one of the key concerns of the Culture Company is the promotion of diversity we would like you express your creativity through the theme of Christmas traditions around the world, including non Christian festivals of light such as Chanucah & Divali.

Proposals are welcome from individual designers, artists and creative companies. There will be a fee available for this work. Initial proposals, including basic visual concepts, examples of previous work and CVs should be submitted to Lesley Delves, Tourism Projects Officer (Lesley.Delves@liverpool.gov.uk), Liverpool Culture Company, PO Box 2008, Municipal Buildings, Dale Street, L69 2WN by Friday November 18th. You will need to be available on 29th/ 30th November to install the work which will be on display to the public from December 1st.
