"IT IS a daunting task - but I really want to be daunted!" So chuckles Liverpool's Eddie Berg, who since March has been artistic director of the British Film Institute.

The founder of FACT now not only occupies one of the most influential roles in one of the most esteemed organisations of its kind in the world but is also overseeing the biggest revamp in its 72-year history.

The BFI is currently looking to build a new £60m National Centre for the Moving Image to be completed in time for the London Olympics of 2012 - and Berg is at the heart of its design and the campaign to fund it.
