Participation Programme Coordinator
£16,000 - £18,000 per annum 35 hours per week

During its exciting capital build project in the lead up to Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008, Bluecoat is currently developing its arts participation for local communities. We are seeking a person to coordinate this programme, working with our Participation Programme Manager.

Good planning, budgeting and communication skills, experience of working with artists and partner organisations are essential, as is an understanding of and commitment to participation in a contemporary arts context.

Application packs from Bec Jones, Bluecoat Arts Centre, School Lane, Liverpool
L1 3BX Tel: 0151 709 5297 ext 14 Fax: 0151 707 0048
Email: beccy@bluecoatartscentre.com

Deadline for receipt of applications: 1st August 2005

Bluecoat has recently embarked on an exciting capital development, which will increase access, provide new purpose-built gallery and performance spaces and renovate existing areas of the building. Dedicated participation facilities will be created, giving a permanent base to Bluecoat's innovative programme Connect,
and providing opportunities to develop the wider participation offer. During closure of the building, which is due to reopen in April 2007, the Participation Coordinator will conduct comprehensive research and work with the Participation Programme Manager to develop a detailed plan for the future of participatory events at Bluecoat. S/he will also assist in the running of the Connect programme, which continues throughout closure.

Connect is recognised regionally, and has a growing reputation beyond the North West, for its innovative approach to arts participation. It was set up in 1999 and is currently supported through Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts with additional support from other trusts and sponsors. Through Connect, Bluecoat creates opportunities for a wide range of people to gain access to contemporary arts, both practically and intellectually. Currently Connect's target communities
are young people in formal and informal educational contexts, disabled people and people from Liverpool's diverse communities. Rather than one-off projects, the emphasis is on establishing longer-term relationships, sometimes over several years. Artists employed to work on projects cover a wide range of creative disciplines, eg dance, music, writing, live art, visual art including video and
digital media.

The successful applicant will play an important role in this exciting and challenging period for the organisation, towards Bluecoat's participation in Liverpool's European Capital of Culture 2008 programme.

Bluecoat is striving to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. The building however currently has limited access.
