Funds needed to save public art

A 'no-brainer' surely! £53,000 is really small change for a council that squanders millions on projects that never actually materialise. They probably spent that much in the past year painting the superlambanana in the wrong colours and logos and moving it around the city.

The futures of several pieces of public art in Liverpool, including the distinctive Superlambanana, are being decided by the city council on Friday.
Sculptures owned by the Liverpool Architecture Design Trust (LADT) are under threat after the organisation got into financial difficulties.
Councillors will decide whether to meet the trust's debts of more than £53,000 and take control of their assets.

Liverpool's yellow Superlambanana sculpture will stay in the city after the council voted to help its owners out of financial difficulties.
Public art owned by the Liverpool Architecture Design Trust (LADT) was under threat when the organisation ran up debts of more than £53,000.
The city council decided to underwrite LADT's debts and take control of its assets at a meeting on Friday.
