Work Starts on Gormley Sculpture
There's pictures like this in most of the press today. Antony Gormley's 'Another Place' which consists of 100 iron male figures is being installed on Crosby Beach. It opens on July 1st and will be there till November when its due to go to New York.

These statues at Crosby beach should stay. They are beautiful and unusual and are bringing people to the beach. Please dont take them to New York.

his works seem to get closer to the sculptures of the polish artist abakanowicz. that's strange- he used to be so light, ephemeral.

I suppose there are too many safety issues etc. to keep them here permanently. We'll certainly miss them when they go but that's nice in a way too. Change is good.
I heard that when they were installed at Stavanger in Norway there was quite a lot of opposition for various reasons. Its been a lot quieter here.
