Make Sunday and Open Studios. Sun 9 May

make-sun-1

There is another Make Sunday event at Leaf Tea bar this Sunday, 9 May 2010. The first was on Mother’s day in March (when we took these pictures) and was a great success. As well as all the art & craft makers in the Cafe itself the artists’ studios on the 1st and 3rd floors are open so you can meet Arena and Elevator artists in their studios.

While you are there take a look at the Proof exhibition in Arena’s gallery space – it’s excellent.

Liverpool Twestival (Twitter Festival) 12 Feb 09

I haven’t started twittering yet but I’m sure I’ll get sucked in eventually.

If you don’t know, Twitter is a web site that allows users to answer the question “What are you doing” and follow other users who seem interesting, or have related professions and hobbies. Networks build up quickly and twittering (being active on Twitter) takes very little time, as you are limited to 140 characters!

It can be quite useful but unfortunately there’s a lot of useless messages like ‘I’m standing at the bus stop and its freezing cold’ or ‘I just saw Stephen Fry going into Marks and Spencers’.

Anyway, on Thursday 12 February 2009 there’s a global twitter festival. Twitter + festival = Twestival

It sounds like fun, they need more things for the auction and sponsorship. Tickets are available and free – donations on the door preferred.

Over 130 cities worldwide will be hosting a twestival at the same time, on the same day making it a truly global event.

Liverpool Twestival is taking place on Thursday 12th Feb at Leaf Tea Shop and Bar from 18.00 to late. Bands confirmed so far are The Lapis, Sparkwood & 21 and Pencil In and a grand prize auction.

The organisers are looking for donations of prizes to the auction, as well as sponsorship for the event, which is raising money solely for Charity:Water, a global charity that aims to get clean water to people across the globe, the fundraising target is £2000 which will buy a well.

See website for more details, T Shirts, Tickets and Donations…
