Spaceport Visitor Attraction – Exhibitions – Exhibitions.
Should be good.
Join the world’s favourite inventor and his faithful pooch at the latest Spaceport exhibition, opening Thursday 25 March 2010. It’s a grand day out for the whole family with some cracking interactive contraptions, a visit to Wallace’s workshop and a selection of sets from the award-winning films. You can even design your own alien!
This moves festival which takes place at the Bluecoat in April sounds really interesting, think I’ll go along to CUC on Tuesday to find out more. (They need volunteers to help out as well)

Call for Entries – National Sculpture Prize 2010, Bluecoat Display Centre, Liverpool
The National Sculpture Prize 2010 is the second installment of the Art Prize created by the Bluecoat Display Centre to hunt out innovative new artists and makers. Following the success of our competition in 2008, and with the support of Malthouse & Co Chartered Accountants, the 2010 edition of the competition seeks to find six artists, whose work is new, exciting and thought provoking.

Breakfast with the Artists provides a unique opportunity to hear some of the MyWar artists, including Thomson & Craighead and Knowbotic Research, talk about their work and the themes of the exhibition.
Thomson & Craighead’s ‘A Short Film about War’ is a narrative documentary artwork made from information found on the world wide web: http://bit.ly/bf78cT
‘huwwara _ anybody, looking’ by knowbotic research is an installation consisting of different elements – an audio piece, a single screen computer-animation, and an interactive video projection: http://bit.ly/baXHQy
Tickets are £4.00/£3.00 (Members & concs) and are available at: http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/book/add?what=h93rgt&venue_id=fact
FACT - MyWar – Identity and Appropriation under War Condition
12 March – 30 May 2010
In a period of global unrest, FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) presents a timely exhibition. MyWar explores conflict in a digitally networked world through the work of 12 international artists. Their work investigates the realities and myths of war at a time when the boundaries between the public and the private are being steadily eroded.
Not in Liverpool this year but not too far away in parts of Lancashire and Cumbria. I like the look of that Cloud Project.
This spring join the AND festival on a digital journey across real and virtual worlds in Cumbria, Lancashire and online, as we abandon the city and head for the hills.
Expect strange playful and radical interventions across the Northwest’s stunning landscape as a host of artists, scientists and designers map the region and challenge us to question our relationship with nature and technology, food and health, work and play.
AND creates a space where artists can offer striking new perspectives and visitors can interact with ideas, discussions and experimentation.
Join us in abandoning your normal devices!
This second edition of AND is presented by folly in association with FACT (Foundation of Art and Creative Technology) and Cornerhouse.

What’s 39 ART Day (Thank You Art day)?
- March 9 -
Originally 39 Art Day was initiated by a Japanese artist Yoshiaki Kaihatsu to foster the appreciation of contemporary art in Japan. In Japanese, “thank you” rhymes with 3/9 (san-kyuu), as there is no “th” sound and the Japanese people tend to pronounce “th” as “s.” Thus, the Date for 39 Art Day on March 9 and now it is celebrated worlwide!

More to come…

Liverpool Hope University is pleased to announce a new performance venue for Liverpool.
The Capstone building is Liverpool Hope’s new Centre for Music, Performance and Innovation.
By day it will be home to Creative and Performing Arts students and staff, but by night, it will open its doors to the people of Liverpool who can enjoy shows at Hope Theatre, a space designed specifically to have the best possible acoustic, ideal for classical and contemporary music.
The Capstone, funded with the assistance of the NWDA and the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) will also be one of only three Steinway Schools in the UK. All the pianos in the venue, both for performance and rehearsals, will be Steinways. Flagship among these will be the new Steinway D Concert Grand piano in Hope Theatre, which will be inaugurated by Joanna MacGregor on Friday 26th March.
Please see above details of all events taking place during the opening week.
Tickets for the events are available from the Liverpool Philharmonic box office, Hope Street, L1 9BP, 0151 709 3789
