Call For Submissions for Music & EVNTS Strands Extended

Futuresonic, Manchester's urban festival of art, music & ideas takes place from 1 - 5 May 2008. The festival is now calling for submissions for its EVNTS and Music strands with awards ranging from £500 - £1000.

Stage Your Own Event!

EVNTS is a major strand of the Futuresonic festival, made up of a Manchester city-wide programme of affiliated events. It is an open or 'wiki' festival strand which enables organisers to present autonomous events at Futuresonic.

Futuresonic now invites any programmer, curator, promoter, label or artist group anywhere in the world to stage an independent event in EVNTS 2008, with the EVNTS Competition offering financial support for a limited number of events. Awards of £1,000 and £500 are available for people to stage an event as a part of EVNTS via the EVNTS Competition. Proposals will be judged by an independent panel of music, arts and industry figures.

Send your submission to the EVNTS Competition if you need financial support in order to present the project and to the EVNTS Showcase if it can be presented without financial support from Futuresonic. We regret only a small number of EVNTS can be financially supported.

"A glimpse of tomorrow's music today" BBC

In 2008 we invite musicians to share their take on innovative, original and daring 21st century music with our audience. Futuresonic's roots are in post-dub electronic music, and it showcases genre-defying great live music. Futuresonic will be able to financially support a limited number of performances. In addition there are opportunities for musicians to perform without receiving from Futuresonic a fee or financial support for the cost of travel, accommodation and other expenses. All performances or projects accepted to the Futuresonic Music strand will receive full marketing benefits plus management and production support.
