SMOKED OUT - SNAP YOUR SMOKING SANCTUARY BEFORE 1ST JULY

On the 30th June 2007 the lights will go out. Not in the streets but in areas of the English workplace that were once havens for those who just wanted to take a break and have a cigarette. Like it, tolerate it or loathe it, the smoking room is a unique piece of workplace culture, where management and shopfloor coexist with no other shared interest than to have a fag. The rooms set aside are generally no more than an afterthought - mostly containing furniture and decor one step from the skip.

Redeye has initiated this project with Mobloguk and the-phone-book Limited to create the mass documentation of the end of an era. Before the project goes live to the world, we are asking Redeye members to contribute images taken on their phones of their own particular workplace smoking sanctuaries. These will be used to populate the gallery ready for launch.
