HND Art Students Show at Bridewell - Opens June 6

ART STUDENTS MAKE HISTORY AT THE BRIDEWELL STUDIOS GALLERY

A talented group of Art Students from Liverpool Community College are to show their final year exhibition at The Bridewell Studios Gallery.

VENUE: Bridewell Studios Gallery, Prescot Street, Liverpool
EXHIBITION OPEN: 6th- 14th June 12.00 -17.00 (closed Sunday)

The Group Denique meaning “last of an era will be the final group of students to receive an HND qualification in Fine Arts from Liverpool Community College, before the course becomes a Foundation Degree in Fine Art from September of 2007.

Students will show their work in The Bridewell Studios Gallery, a space that was previously used by The HND Fine Arts course leader Geoff Molyneux as a studio space until 1983. A founder member of The Bridewell Studios, Geoff says:

“It’s a strange coincidence that the students are going to be exhibiting in the same room that I used as a studio during the final year of my degree! I was one of the founder members of The Bridewell Studios and I am proud that it continues to provide a resource for artists and art students across Liverpool.

Many of the exhibiting students have been involved with The Bridewell Studios Gallery over the past six months, by attending workshops or working for the gallery on a voluntary basis.

Gallery Coordinator Vanessa Bartlett says “It’s a real privilege for The Bridewell Studios Gallery to host this exhibition, as we value our links with the local community and are always keen to provide opportunities for students and graduates.

Group ‘DENIQUE’ are 13 Fine Arts Higher National Diploma and Certificate students from the Arts Centre of Liverpool Community College. There will be a wide range of artworks on show, ranging from paintings to sculptures, ceramics, mixed media, and digital imaging. Very much part of their Fine Art education, this exhibition has been organised by the group, from negotiating a venue, gaining sponsorship, originating, designing and printing a catalogue as well as producing and installing artworks to a professional standard. Denique Artists are:

Jonathon Abbott, Anthony Blake, Anita Cunningham, Rachel Garner, Kirsty Hughes, Owen Lynch, Francis Marnell, Eileen McChrystal, Delia McCinery, Irene Mills, Neil Phizacklea, Spike Pickard, Margaret Price
