terry-duffy-crucifix.jpg“Victim, no resurrection by Terry Duffy

Liverpool Anglican Cathedral from 30th March until the end of June 2007

“Victim, no resurrection was painted in the aftermath of the Toxteth Riot's in 1981. Duffy in the 80's was a leading light in the Liverpool “avant-garde and as a result of this painting received the Arts Council Major Fellowship Award and produced the “Victim Series.

“Victim, no resurrection went on tour to various major galleries in this country and then to New York where it was shown at the Cathedral in Harlem. The painting has only recently been returned to the UK and a new timber stretcher made for its hanging at the Cathedral. The original stretcher, now lost, was made from reclaimed timber which was ironically made from the timber of a church burned down during the Riots.

The painting in acrylics and enamel on canvas is 14ft high and 11ft wide.
