Liverpool-born animator Chris Shepherd will be showcasing a selection of his award-winning short films at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) on Wednesday 11 April 2007.

As a writer, director and artist, Chris has received international acclaim, winning awards at events including the Prague Short Film Festival and St Louis International Film Festival, as well as gaining a cult following via his animation work on Chris Morris’ 2005 Channel 4 series Nathan Barley and the infamous stare-out competition on BBC comedy Big Train.

Visitors to FACT will get the chance to see some of Chris’ most famous and locally inspired films, which have given his work a global profile, including his most recent Silence is Golden (2006) which won the TCM Classic Shorts Award at the 2006 London Film Festival.

Winning 25 international awards, including Best Short Film at the British Independent Film Awards and a BAFTA nomination, Dad’s Dead (2003) is a ground breaking short film, combining animation with live action. Set in the city its is narrated by fellow Liverpool actor Ian Hart (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, BackBeat, Land and Freedom)

Dad’s Dead was Chris’ first commission for Channel 4’s animate! His second, Who I Am and What I Want (2005), co-written and directed with artist David Shrigley, will also be shown on the night. With that in mind, the evening is dedicated to the memory of the inspirational animate! producer, Dick Arnall who died in February.

Chris says of the producer, “ Dick was interested in people – a one off. He was a champion for outsiders and genre breakers but most of all he was a good mate�.
