Book 1 by Craig Atkinson

book 1Local artist Craig Atkinson describes his first book as "100 Copies only. 100 pages. Perfect bound. 6"x9". includes your favourite drawings [well mine anyway]". One thing I like about it is that every copy is unique as the artist adds a few extra touches by hand with pencil, crayons and felt-tips to the otherwise monochrome book. The whole thing is drawn and hand-written rather than typed, apart from a chapter of his collection of Spanish serviettes and the final chapter of black & white images of recent paintings.
The book has a lot of wit. There are diagrams, lists, mock certificates, signs such as 'Art This Way' and notes such as 'remember to get dressed before leaving the house'. Personally I like the simple fine line drawings of household objects like TV, hi-fi and printer etc.
