I just wanted to thank Elżbieta Jabłońska`s for this display today.

I actually knew nothing about it until I went on a "coastal walk and historic talk" organised and run by the Liverpool Ranger service today.

I spotted one of your lovely pristine white boxes, bound with silver ribbon, a beautiful big bow and adorned with a sharpened blue pencil held in place by the ribbon, nestling amongst some discarded rubbish that someone must have inconsiderately fly tipped a while ago.

Me being me, curiosity got the better of me. So whilst listening to the Ranger's talk about the old Bobbing Factory on Blackburn Road, I removed the silver ribbon and bow and opened up the little white box, not expecting to find anything of use or value inside at all.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the contents. I assume the Bryant & May matches represent the old Match Works that used reside not too far away and the string maybe represents the old bobbin factory perhaps? I still haven't found the significance of the tealight, blank lined notepaper or the chocolate coated caramel bar yet (but the chocolate bar was rather tasty, so thanks). And the poster for this exhibition titled "Under the Bridge" spooked us somewhat as the Ranger had not long explained to us about the relevance of the local term, so seemed a very strange coincidence indeed.

So congratulations. Your plan worked in inspiring me (a relative outsider to Liverpool, as I come from Oxfordshire, about 255 miles south of Liverpool, although I've lived here almost 5 years now), to take more of an interest in the local history and look at the place that I'd always called "ghastly Garston" in a different light.

Well done.
