Print Workshops at the Bluecoat

Still places available on the excellent print workshops at the Bluecoat this summer, book now.

Once a month a specialist workshop for a maximum of 6 printmakers only, guaranteeing you a learning experience of the highest quality:

Saturday 27th June 10am – 4pm                             £60/£50
An introduction to artists’ books with Michelle Rowley
Tonnes of sample artists’ books to examine – folded and sewn. A look at how materials and form relate to content. Then a chance to have a go at  stab stitch and create your own hard back cover. Bring in prints or collages and drawings to recycle. Michelle leads book art projects at Wirral Metropolitan College and Wrexham Regional Print Centre. Also a founder member of Hot Bed, she has a book of her own in the Tate’s collection.
Suitable for beginners.

Saturday  18th and Sunday 19th July 10am – 4pm                £120/£100
Gum Arabic Transfer – full colour separation
Justin returns to the Print Studio to split a full colour image into separate colour layers and print each layer by hand using his Gum Arabic transfer technique. This is an ambitious weekender and participants can expect to take home an editioned full colour print with the surface and tonal qualities of a lithograph.  Justin Sanders teaches regularly for Hot Bed Press in Salford and other print studios UK-wide.
Suitable for those with some print experience.
