Just been looking through the website – a lot of good stuff there. I wish them good luck.

Brendan Lyons artwork.
The ‘Next Up’ exhibition at the Bluecoat has finished now but I still wanted to mention Brendan Lyons work that was in it and which I’m guessing a lot of people passed by thinking it was some building repair going on.
Brendan makes sculptural objects like this out of nothing but paint, so this is solid orange paint adhered to the wall with solid silver paint. I really like his work, you can see more on his website

Have to admit I did miss the bricks on the floor which are also made out of nothing but paint.

CR Blog » Blog Archive » New Disc Packaging.
Ok, maybe not art in liverpool but look at the packaging. Mind you, that deluxe version costs $70 so think I’ll go for the cheaper version, sounds as good as one would expect from this new David Byrne and Brian Eno collaboration.

National Museums Liverpool Blog – Substitutions at Only A Game?.
The temptation to go overboard with footballing puns is almost overwhelming but I’ll give it a go.
Only A Game?, the UEFA football exhibition currently at World Museum Liverpool, features lots of loaned objects including trophies, medals, shirts and football memorabilia. Over the coming weeks there are going to be more substitutions than you get in your average international friendly (well, not quite), with items going in and out of the exhibition. They are:
- Everton Collection objects, including the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup medal but excluding the Barcelona Cup – last chance to see these is 8 March
- UEFA Cup – last day to see this is 3 March
- The following all arrive on 4 March -
- UEFA Competition for National Representative Women’s Teams trophy (1982/84 – 1987/89)
- UEFA European Women’s Championship trophy (1989/91- 1999/2001)
- UEFA European Women’s Championship trophy (new trophy used from 2003/05 onwards)
- UEFA European Under-21 Championship trophy and winners’ medals
There may be other changes so if you are coming to see a specific object you might want to phone the museum or check the Only A Game? webpages to make sure it is available. Either way there is lots to see during any visit.

When we were in St George’s Hall a while ago to see the 15,000 visitor to the tiled floor, Christian Smith took a 360 degree panoramic photo which is quite interesting. Click on the image to see a bigger version.
Naturally a few people are complaining about John Lennon’s song with its atheist lyrics being played in the Cathedral but my only complaint is that Futuresonic who we love for their ‘leading-edge digital art, design and music’ have resorted to playing an old tune by the former Beatle on church bells! Maybe there’s a secret ingredient (I hope).
Creative coup for Futuresonic festival as Imagine to be played across Liverpool on world’s highest and heaviest peal of bells
Futuresonic, the North West’s festival of leading-edge digital art, design and music, will be bringing a world premiere to Liverpool this spring in partnership with Liverpool Cathedral.
After months of careful negotiation and planning, Futuresonic has commissioned installation artist Cleo Evans to conduct the bell-ringers of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral in a unique performance of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ on the Cathedral’s world famous bells in mid-May.
Rehearsals on hand bells will commence in March, but details of the specific time and date of the inaugural public performance remain firmly under wraps.
