Birkenhead Park Visitor Centre: Autumn Half Term Activities

  • New orienteering course. Maps available price £1
  • Photo O picture orienteering game available. Price 50p.
  • A fitness trail with equipment around the lower park lake; Free
  • An historic trail for young children and an architecture trail for the older ones. Free
  • Also there is a tree trail priced £2.

All these trails are available at the Visitor Centre. So come along and try them out!

Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 10.00 -Wildflower Seed Sowing Help the rangers sow wildflower seeds on the meadow. Suitable for all the family. No need to book. Meet at the Visitor Centre.

Sunday 20 October 10.00 – 12.00-Tennis for Free Free tennis coaching. All equipment and coaching will be provided free. Parents are encouraged to stay and learn how to play tennis with their children. There will be 3 groups running:

10.00 -11.00: under 8’s, children 9-15 and adults.

11.00-12.00: Children 9-15, lower level adults and upper level adults. NB Free

Sunday 20 14.00 – 15.30 – Autumn Walk 

Look for the signs of autumn and the trees cloaked in gold and amber on this free ranger led guided walk. No need to book. Dogs allowed on a lead.

Monday 21 13.30 – 15.00 – Seed Safari Find tree seeds in the park or bring your own acorns and conkers and see if they will grow! Sow seeds on our wildflower meadow. Suitable for accompanied children and family groups. No need to book.

Tuesday 22 10.30 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 14.30 – Batty about Bats
Morning session: Make bat boxes for the park and put them up! In the afternoon Bat crafts and talks. Suitable for accompanied children aged 5 and over. No need to book.

Wednesday 23 10.00 – 15.00  Fishing Taster sessions from with Angling 4 Positive Futures. Booking essential.

Thursday 24 10.00 – 12.00n – Boccia Learn to play this bowling game for all abilities and ages; turn up and have a go. Coaching available.

Thursday 24 11.00 – 14.30 – Family Fun with Wirral Rangers in Victoria Park, Tranmere. No need to book. Free, but donations welcome.

Friday 25 10.30 – 12.00 – Gruffalo

An outdoor event, suitable for accompanied children under 9. Den building based on the Gruffalo story. Booking essential.

Sunday 27 10.00 – 12.00-Tennis for Free
