Going Native
Mercy will be curating a month-long exhibition and series of performance events for the Liverpool Biennial 2006. This will be an important expansion on the )BracketTHIS( project. Since its inception, the project has developed into an on going investigation into the complexities of cultural identity.
The forthcoming exhibition aims to explore the ways in which people of different cultural backgrounds relate to their current location. Artists from throughout the North West are being asked to think about identity, location and belonging.
Artwork produced in a variety of disciplines - painting, photography, sculpture, new media and installation – will be displayed.
"Is the place we identify with a physical or a mental site?"
“Do individual history’s reflect communal experience?
"Is it possible to define somebody by the place they have left, or by their current home?"
“Aren’t we always 'Going Native'?
Mercy
The 'Going Native?' project is curated by Tomas Harold and Nathan Jones of the Mercy organisation.

I believe we are always trying to focus on tradition(Nativity) while creating work of art, no matter what style it is.
