St Helens artists descend on Liverpool as part of the Independents Biennial.
Platform, a voluntary arts organisation in St Helens intend when they show their work at The Baltic Creative, Jordan St,
Liverpool 1, during the Liverpool Biennial, from 15th to 28th September 2012.
The preview evening on Friday 14th September sounds equally creative, with an opportunity to see a performance from
Liverpool LGBT singers.
Platform grew from a small group of artists who identified a need for affordable studio space in
St Helens, and have
been working over the last two years to fill this gap. In 2012 they have established St Mary’s studios in the town centre,
above the market area, and have widely extended their membership. They continue to work towards opportunities for
creative people to work together and cultural experiences which will raise the profile of art across St Helens and the
The Baltic Creative CIC will be the perfect host venue, giving an ideal opportunity for “The Unexpected Guest” in this case
St Helens artists aiming to provide an imaginative contemporary art exhibition.
The works exhibited will include all types of media and genre as well as other interesting events happening throughout,
Saturday 22nd there will be a performance by “Life is a Cabaret” an interactive performance dance group; Sunday 23 rd
there are artist talks from 12-30 and a participatory workshop by artist Hannah Bold at 14-30 to 16-30.
“The Unexpected Guest” can sometimes turn out to be an interesting and worthwhile addition to the gathering!
