The Grundy Art Gallery are recruiting for a new position of Assistant Curator, to work part-time (3 days per week) for a fixed term contract until 31 Dec 2016.

The Assistant Curator will be responsible for supporting the Curator in all aspects of administering, and delivering exhibitions and events programming, in particular surrounding a new theme on the subject of light. The funding for this role comes through a Coastal Communities Fund grant enabling the gallery to undertake a new programme of activity coinciding with the annual Illuminations festival, for both 2015 and 2016.

The Assistant Curator will work closely with a wide range of partners, and will assist in all aspects of administering the production and realisation of commissions including the co-ordination of logistics, transport of artworks, security, insurance of individual works, ensuring processing of payments, as well as booking artist travel and accommodation. They will also work with the Curator on future funding bids with a view to the programme beyond 2016.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and partners. They will be a team player and someone who can pragmatically and efficiently undertake a wide variety of tasks to tight deadlines. The role requires a high attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a variety of work situations, acting under pressure to help ensure complex projects are delivered on time and to budget.
