Artist/Writer Commission responding to Dolls’ House Furniture, Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery

Deadline: midnight Tuesday 1 December 2015. Paid.

Artist/Writer Opportunity

Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery seeks to commission an artist and writer to work collaboratively to make a creative response to a collection of dolls’ house furniture. The commission will result in an installation using this collection that presents an unfolding narrative inspired by the objects. This is an opportunity for a visual artist and writer to work together to use museum objects to reimagine storytelling. Through working with curators to explore the dolls’ house furniture collection the artist and writer will develop a new imaginative story that is told through an installation using objects from the collection. The resulting work will form a temporary exhibition in the main exhibition gallery. We are interested in hearing ideas for the work that may be unexpected, enigmatic, surprising or inventive and that reimagine the museum’s collection of miniature furniture.

The commission fee of £3500 includes artist and writer fee, materials and expenses, and at least four development sessions with curators.

Specification
The artist and writer must:

  • Work with curators at the museum to select objects from the collection of dolls’ house furniture.
  • Create new collaborative visual art work and narrative which will use the museum collection in an innovative and imaginative way.
