Iona is no stranger to FACT, having been the organisation’s Operations and
Finance Director when the Wood Street building opened in 2003. She went on
to gain a wealth of professional experience in the charity, arts and legal sectors,
and will take up her new post at the start of December.
Returning to FACT from JST Lawyers, Iona has recently qualified as a solicitor.
Prior to that, she was the director of art consultancy Segue, and previously held
positions at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and the Neptune (now Epstein) Theatre.
The new role of Executive Director has been created as part of a business
strategy to secure FACT’s continuing growth in a changing landscape for the
arts. Iona will work with Director Mike Stubbs to strengthen FACT’s future as the
UK’s leading centre for new media art and creative technology.
The introduction of the Executive Director will allow Mike to focus on FACT’s
leadership through the organisation’s artistic programme and digital and research
agendas, as well as forming stronger international relationships with artists and
Iona’s responsibilities will include further raising the profile of FACT and its
position within the creative industries, as well as diversifying income streams.
She said: “I had been wanting to return to working in the arts, and for me FACT
was the natural choice and I am delighted to come back.
“FACT is one of Liverpool’s great cultural assets – it is a fantastic organisation
run by an exceptional group of people. I am looking forward to working with Mike
to ensure FACT is best placed to meet the challenges facing the sector, while
continuing to commission and create internationally-recognised art.”
