A Girl’s Best Friend…

If you’re looking for jewellery with a difference , the current exhibition at The World of Glass could have the answer.
A Girl’s Best Friend is the title and it features a wide range of original hand-crafted jewellery from seven designers working in a variety of styles and materials.
Entry is free and all the work is available for sale, with items ranging from necklaces, pendants and earrings to rings, bracelets and bangles.
And for Katherine Barker there could be no better place to show her work than The World of Glass – her day job is working as the Education Co-ordinator at St Helens’ award-winning visitor centre.
“Making jewellery is something I do for fun,” admits Katherine, who specialises in silver and bronze clay work and has her own craft room and kiln at home.
“I have run some courses in jewellery making at The World of Glass but my real work is organising school visits and workshops that feature handling, gallery and craft sessions.
As well as making jewellery I also relax by doing glass painting so I feel really at home at The World of Glass”.
Other designers in the exhibition, which runs until November 18, are Barry Cooper, Debs May, Margaret Pickarvance, Bryan and Luzaan Wright, Vincent Wood and Lynn Trust.
“There is a wide variety of jewellery in different styles and materials so there’s lots to look at and you could even pick up a unique Christmas gift for a very reasonable price
