Art in Liverpool is the city’s only independent listings site for visual arts in Liverpool, as well as a platform for critically engaged writing about art.
Run by editor Sinead Nunes, the site lists exhibitions, events, jobs, courses and much more. We are always looking for contributors; be that writers and photographers, or new galleries wanting to promote upcoming events and exhibitions, so please get in touch if you are interested in being part of Art in Liverpool.
Art in Liverpool was set up by Ian Jackson with the help of Minako Jackson back in August 2004, as a simple listings site for Liverpool galleries and exhibitions. A blog followed in time for Liverpool Biennial 2004, and the site has evolved ever since.
In September 2011 Ian & Minako decided to reduce their online activity and handed over the management of the site to VAiL (Visual Arts in Liverpool), who selected Sinead Nunes as editor. Since then, Art in Liverpool has continued to grow and reach out to people online, with new features and more input from writers and other creatives. We are always looking for new ways to interact with the local art scene, and in recent years our critical writing output has been expanding to give a voice to art lovers and cultural commentators across Merseyside.
VAiL is a board of visual arts organisations established in 2007 to raise Liverpool’s reputation as the UK’s leading regional city for visual arts. Member organisations include: the Bluecoat, Liverpool Biennial, Tate Liverpool, National Museums Liverpool, Metal, Ceri Hand Gallery, A Foundation, FACT and Open Eye Gallery.
VAiL is supported by Arts Council England.
