July 2013 promises an Arts Festival with a difference; four arts
festivals, to be precise! Spanning the North of England, Python Arts
Festival will take place in Warrington, Bolton and Teesside from
Saturday 20th July until Saturday 3rd August.
During this fortnight-long celebration, a diverse range of artworks
will be on display accompanied by an exciting programme of interactive
events, offering new creative opportunities for artists and visitors
alike.
One of the main strands of the festival will be the Open Exhibition
with individual cash prize awarded to winners from each venue. In
addition to these prizes there is the unique and exciting opportunity
for the winners to showcase their work in a touring exhibition across
all four galleries in 2014.
We invite you to create new work or submit existing artwork completed
within the last 3 years. We will accept painting, photography,
sculpture and 3D, drawing, print and textile work. Unfortunately
film, performance art and large scale installation are excluded.
Artists may submit up to 3 works and the maximum size for 2D work will
be limited to 150cm x 150cm. The acceptable size for 3D work will be
limited to 100cm(width) x 100cm(length) x 200cm(height), including
plinth to be supplied by artist. There are no minimum size
restrictions. There will be a non refundable submission fee of £5
for 1 entry, £8 for 2 entries or £10 for 3 entries.
Prizes will be chosen by a panel of invited arts professionals as well
as the Python curatorial team with winners announced and prizes
awarded at the opening of the festival on Saturday 20th July 2013.
There will also be a public choice winner announced at the close of
the festival.
Entries will be judged firstly via high quality photographic images
and application forms for these entries will be sent out mid April.
