What Happens Next?

From the organisers....

Hey All!

Well, the competition is now closed and so we are beavering away organising the next stage - the judging!

A few of you have been asking about the next stages - When will the judging take place, who are the judges, when do we find out if we are chosen for the 100Shirts Exhibition....?!

Details of the judges, judging process and dates will all be posted onto our blog (an online newsletter/messageboard) at http://www.artinliverpool.com/100shirts so please do keep a regular eye out (every couple of days or so) for the latest updates. Hopefully the judging will take place before the 14th January 2006 so there really isn't much time to go!

It would be lovely to get a little feedback from you all too - Please do take a moment to post your comments or queries or shared experiences of the competition so far onto our blog. How did you find out about the 100Shirts? How easy/difficult did you find the brief? Did you find your queries and questions were responded to helpfully when you emailed into us? Maybe you would like to try and contact some of the other entrants to have a chat and see how they found the competition so far?

If you've never posted a message on a website before, it's as easy as writing a short email! Simply click the link above. You will see our messages and updates on the page - on the bottom of every message is the word 'comment' - Simply click here to send us your thoughts!!

I look forward to seeing some messages and feedback on the blog!

Good luck to you all for the judging and, fingers crossed, we will meet you during the exhibition!

All the best,
Robbie, Bob and Barry

Although I am use to working with briefs, I found this one was one of the more challenging ones… seeing that there where some serious colour restrictions… It was somewhat frustrating as well as having each shade count as a “separate colour as well. My first design had about 300 different shades of grey… oh the fun a printer would have had…
However after Bob answered all my questions (thank you for the quick response and support) I sort off got the drift as to what I need to focus on. Still the question remains… will one of my images make it…???? Overall… although it was a difficult brief (for me anyway) I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, it made me think… Jochen

Lynsey Hackett:

I have really enjoyed the freedom of designing completely selfishly satisfying my own creative need and not tayloring my designs for what someone else likes and requires. It was a bit weird at first having the freedom to do what I wanted with the brief but I soon got into the swing of things and have submitted 3 completely different designs. Here's hoping one of them makes it! My sister told me about the copmetition and I am glad she did as I loved the challenge. Does anyone know where I can find out about more of these kinds of competitions so that I can enter them also?

Ian:

Well Lynsey, you could enter the 100% cotton T shirt comp. I've just posted a reminder on the main blog. Other than that try some google searches, there's a lot of T shirt sites and competition sites out there.

i found the competition very interesting and have really enjoyed entering the competition. I find my style of work is very unique and different and reflects my true inner feelings. hope i win the competition and am glad that people are giving artists a chance to express themselves freely which is what art should be about. this is why i call it colours of emotion as it comes from within me. please let me know of any future competitions and check out my website. www.iamthebutterflyman.com thank you robbie, bob and barry from robert haworth

Being a colourist and using linear aspect to emphasis my artwork, i found it difficult to create around the brief. Also to send by email was a bit of a dilemma. In the final designs I plummed for the linear style for the t-shirts. but other then that i enjoyed the creativity there shopuld be more of this stuff to link in with coming culture themes. All the best to everyone from George Lund

Shelley Best:

I found this brief very interesting as I did't really know much about why the birds had moved to the cities, or much about the negetive effects this is having on us and our environment.

I found it useful to be given a specific pantone colour to work to for the T-shirt, and the two colour restriction was not a problem. This made it easier to just be creative and reflect on the working title! Really interested to see the winning designs....and George, i agree the emailing thing was a bit of a dilemma for me too. Also, thanks to Bob - an extremely chirpy chap who answered all my questions quickly. Good Luck to all who entered!!
